1. Letter from the CEO

   We are pleased to launch the first edition of our quarterly newsletter! In each issue we intend to provide you with information on trends, topics and best practices related to the modernization and migration of Oracle Forms, PL/SQL, Oracle Reports, Database Upgrades and more. As the market leader and endorsed partner in the Oracle Modernization market, we are well positioned to assist Oracle clients in transitioning to Java and new Oracle environments.

   As you may know, CipherSoft was purchased by Unify Corporation on February 1, 2009. Unify is a global provider of application development, data management and migration solutions. The merger of our two companies has created an influential force for migration of Oracle Forms, Lotus Notes and COBOL applications to modern technologies and databases. The combination of CipherSoft with Unify has expanded our abilities to meet our client’s IT needs and drive the growth of the Oracle Forms migration practice.

   With Oracle’s recent acquisition of Sun Microsystems, expected to be completed sometime this summer, we are excited about the opportunities it presents to us given our strong partnerships with each company. The combination of those two power houses will deliver complete, open and integrated products to customers worldwide. As a member of the Oracle Partner Network, Oracle Technology Network and Oracle Modernization Alliance as well as Sun iForce Partner, we are well positioned to help Oracle clients successfully, cost effectively and easily move to the Java environment.

   We will continue to expand our product initiatives to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our clients and deliver the solutions you need to quickly and cost effectively modernize your applications. We look forward to communicating these plans through this quarterly newsletter.

2. Unify/CipherSoft Taps Former Oracle Manager to Lead its EMEA Business Development and Sales

   We are pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Sechser as Director of Business Development for the European and Middle East regions. Peter is a seasoned, results focused sales and partner management executive with a demonstrated track record of working with Oracle clients and partners to deliver solutions that drive business value.

   Peter was most recently the vice president of Strategy and Business Development for PITSS GmbH. He’s also served as Principal Product Manager for Oracle Real Application Clusters for Oracle USA and as a Senior Principal Consultant and Technical Account Manager for Oracle EMEA.

   Leveraging his background and long-standing tenure in the EMEA region, Peter will be working to broaden Unify’s partner and distribution channel for Oracle Forms migrations and conversions, including working closely with Oracle to help companies with their Oracle Forms Modernization and Migration initiatives. 3. Expanded Portfolio for Oracle Forms, Lotus Notes, Content Archiving and Data Management

   Our new product and services portfolio now includes the following offerings for Oracle Clients looking for automated, cost effective approaches to modernizing their applications and data:

   1. Oracle Reports to BI Publisher conversion services
   2. MS Access to Oracle Application Express conversion services
   3. Oracle Forms conversion to Oracle Application Express, including conversion of business logic
   4. Oracle Forms conversion to the Oracle Spring framework

   Our merger with Unify, a dynamic company that is growing at a rapid pace, has expanded our product portfolio to include:

   1. Migration of simple and complex Lotus Notes applications to Microsoft .Net and SharePoint
   2. Migration services to convert IDMS and Adabase Natural to modern code and databases
   3. Content Archiving and Records management solutions through Unify’s recently announced acquisition of AXS-One, expected to be completed on June 30, 2009.
   4. Rapid application development environments for Windows and Java applications with Team Developer and NXJ
   5. Data management systems – from embedded desktops applications to enterprise relational data management systems via SQLBase and DataServer

4. New Products:

   MS Access to Oracle App Express Conversion

   

   One of our newest offerings assists clients in migrating Microsoft Access applications to Oracle Application Express. Designed for users and companies using Access but with the need to have applications that scale, contain sensitive data or have a Web interface, our ACCESS to APEX conversion enables a rapid, automated migration.

   If you face the need to move, for whatever business requirements you have, Oracle APEX presents a credible alternative to Access, primarily due to its 100% browser based environment as well as the performance, security and scalability inherent in the Oracle database.

   Our migration tool allows for the fast and automated transition to Oracle. The solution is focused on recovering the design of existing Access applications and generating Oracle APEX applications based on the findings. There may be minimal manual work after the automated conversion using the tools, such as improving the migrated Access database schema, but it’s the best alternative to rewriting the application.

5. Converting Oracle Reports to BI Publisher

   

   Oracle BI Publisher is an enterprise reporting solution to author, manage, and deliver all types of highly formatted documents eliminating the need for costly point solutions. CipherSoft can assist you in moving Reports over to BI Publisher and answer any questions they may have regarding the conversion or about BI Publisher. 6. Recent Enhancements to Exodus

   

   CipherSoft is always working to provide its customers with the best products available. Over the past several months we’ve made several enhancements to the Exodus product to improve the product’s performance and the end user’s overall experience. A more sophisticated Java version of the Oracle Forms Host command was implemented. This enhancement allows better integration with the windows command interpreter (file redirection and echo command etc.) Another enhancement is the Java version of the Query-Parameter built-in which displays the Query Parameter dialog showing the current values of the specified substitution parameters. End users can set the value of any parameter included in the list. The addition of the new showDocument (URL) functionality in the plug-in version of Exodus helps make the integration between the converted and existing web based applications effortless. A new improvement has been made so that List of Values can be displayed and edited with the Visual Editor. This feature has been added to the Exodus VE plug-in for JDeveloper as well. Finally, CipherSoft has added support for XML- based menu parameters in Exodus to mimic Oracle Forms Runtime. All of these new enhancements will allow the Exodus product to be more efficient and allow us to continue to meet your needs.
